First Annual Western Ontario Woodlot Expo (WOWE)

By all accounts, the first annual Western Ontario Woodlot Expo was a great success! The event was hosted by the Huron-Perth Chapter of the Ontario Woodlot Association and the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association at the Hoover Maple Farm. Upwards of 100 participants gathered on Saturday, November 15, 2014 to learn about maple syrup production and woodlot management, to share ideas, and for a delicious hot meal.  The registration for this event was generously supported by Libro Credit Union.

Terry Hoover of Hoover's Maple Syrup (https://www.hooversmaplesyrup.com/) hosted the expo.

In the morning, the group headed out to the maple woodlot for some lessons on maple syrup production, and woodlot management.  After lunch there were presentations on an upcoming chainsaw course, invasive species, ‘what’s eating your woods?’, maple syrup production versus veneer logs, and funding.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this event a great success.  See you next year!
